Treatments For A Yeast Infection

WHY AREN'T MORE MEDICAL DOCTORS INTERESTED IN TREATING PATIENTS WITH YEAST-RELATED PROBLEMS?

There are many reasons and I'll list only a few of them.

Treatments For A Yeast Infection

  • These physicians use a number of examinations and tests that help them make a diagnosis of an illness or disorder. These include a careful history, complete physical examination, x-rays, blood tests and other laboratory tests of many types. But in spite of comprehensive examinations, no tests are available that enable the physician to make a definite diagnosis of a yeast-related problem.
  • Statements by major medical organizations, including the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the American Medical Association, have concluded that the pioneer observations by C. Orian Truss, M.D., and the clinical observations of many physicians are "speculative and unproven."
  • Although some health insurance policies will cover multiple doses of 100 or 200 mg tablets of antifungal medications for recurrent vaginal yeast infections, they will usually reject claims that contain the diagnosis of candidiasis as an explanation for a patient's fatigue, headaches, depression or other chronic symptoms.
  • Many busy medical doctors, although kind and caring, work under such pressure in their practices that they're unable to devote time needed to take on the responsibility of the patient with yeast-related problems.
  • In addition, these physicians do not have enough office staff can spend time with their patients explaining the necessary dietary changes and other treatment measures required for women (and men and children) with yeast-related problems to regain their health.
In my opinion: When a careful examination has ruled out causes for a patient's symptoms, a sugar-free diet and a one-month trial of prescription antifungal medication is the best place to start. If you and your doctor agree you are improving and you need to continue on Diflucan for a longer period of time, your liver function must be monitored.

OTHER ORGANIZATIONS AND SUPPORT GROUPS

A number of organizations and support groups in the United States, Canada, England and other countries provide information and help for people with chronic health disorders. These include multiple chemical sensitivity syndrome (MCSS), chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS/CFIDS), fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) and many others.

By contacting these organizations you may be able to obtain information that will help you. Many are nonprofit organizations and are staffed in part by volunteers. If you're writing, enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope and a small donation to help cover costs.
