Diet For Candida Yeast Infection - Reassessment

Diet For Candida Yeast Infection

Step 3: Reassessment

You should also rotate other foods, especially during the early weeks and months of your treatment program. Here's why:

Diet For Candida Yeast Infection

Many and perhaps most, individuals with yeast-connected health problems are allergic to several (and sometimes many) different foods. The more frequently you eat a particular food, the greater your chances of developing a "hidden" allergy to that food. These allergies may contribute to your fatigue, headaches, muscle aches, depression or other symptoms. And strange as it may seem, you may become addicted to the foods that are causing your symptoms, so you crave them.

You may find you can add in a few foods without dire consequences. Now is the time to determine those food allergies and sensitivities, especially if you're not yet feeling as good as you would like.

You can eat and drink the following:
  • Any vegetable but not corn
  • any fruit but citrus
  • any meat but bacon, sausage, hot dogs or luncheon meats
  • rice, oats and the grain alternatives amaranth, quinoa and buck-wheat
  • unprocessed nuts that are fresh, refrigerated or frozen
  • water, preferably bottled or filtered
Avoid these:
  • chocolate
  • citrus
  • corn
  • food coloring and additives
  • fruit punches
  • milk
  • processed and packaged foods
  • soft drinks
  • sugar
  • wheat
  • yeast
When you add a food to your diet, be sure to add it in pure form. For example, when you add wheat, use pure whole wheat rather than bread, since bread contains milk and other ingredients that may confuse your results. If you're testing milk, use whole milk rather than ice cream, since ice cream contains sugar, corn syrup and other ingredients.

If you identify one or more diet troublemakers and are still having problems, try the Cave Man Diet - which consists solely of protein and vegetables.

Eliminate all the common allergy-causing foods in the "avoid" list above. In addition, you must avoid:
  • beef
  • chicken
  • coffee
  • eggs
  • oats
  • pork
  • rice
  • tea
  • tomatoes
  • white potatoes
  • wheat
  • any food or beverage you eat more than once a week
Now begin returning these foods to your diet one at a time, giving at least a day or two in between each to experience your results and identify your hidden food sensitivities.

Any food can be a troublemaker, so if you're still not feeling top notch after Step 3, search out some other possible allergens such as soy or shellfish.

Here's the good news: If the foods you've avoided are causing your symptoms, you'll usually feel better within four to six days of eliminating food. Almost always, you'll improve by the 10th day. Occasionally, though, it'll take two or three weeks before your symptoms go away completely.

Rotating your foods will help you identify those that may be disagreeing with you and causing your symptoms. In rotating your diet, you eat a food only once every four to seven days. For example, in rotating fruits, you'd eat oranges on Monday, bananas on Tuesday, apples on Wednesday and pineapple on Thursday. Then on Friday you could start over again with oranges (or a related food such as grapefruit). Do the same thing with other food groups, including meats, vegetables and grains.
