Artificial Sweeteners
Artificial
sweeteners, such as aspartame, saccharin, sucralose, and maltitol, are
promoted as an alternative to sugar for people who want to lose weight
or eliminate sugar from their diets. But diet sodas and food products
that contain these artificial sweeteners are very damaging to the body.
The chemicals used to change the molecular structure of sugar to create
these sweeteners are known carcinogens. Aspartame, a known neurotoxin,
has been linked to neurological symptoms and conditions, such as blurred
vision, headaches, dizziness, memory loss, numbness, MS, ALS, and
Parkinsoffs disease.
Of
all the artificial sweeteners, xylitol is the best choice because it is
not as damaging to the system. The body actually manufactures small
amounts of this substance, and commercial xylitol is obtained from the
bark of birch trees. However, I only recommend taking it in small
amounts, such as in lozenges and mints, for two reasons. Xylitol is a
carbohydrate, which means it will feed candida if used in large
quantities, and although it is obtained from a natural source, it is
chemically processed. Any artificial sweetener consumed in moderate to
large quantities is toxic to the body.
WHAT IS A HEALTHY DIET?
When
I give workshops, people frequently ask, "Since so many foods are
linked to cancer, what should I eat and drink?" It's true that your body
has to adapt more than ever before because of the pollutant overload in
our foods, but you don't need to walk around in fear. The body can
handle more than you think. Yet there may come a point when your body
starts to shut down if you compound the problem by abusing it with poor
dietary choices, putting your energy into negative thoughts and
emotions, and continually operating at high stress levels.
So,
what is a healthy diet? It's one that consists of organic fresh fruits,
vegetables, whole grains, raw nuts and seeds, beans, legumes, unrefined
oils, unrefined sweeteners, and fish and meats that are free of hormones and antibiotics. By adopting a diet of wholesome, unprocessed
food and pure water, you can help the healthy cells and tissues of your
organs to replicate.
Fruits,
vegetables, and plant foods are abundant in phytochemicals, which help
prevent cancer and reverse disease. The most important vegetables to
consume daily are dark-green, leafy vegetables - spinach, watercress,
collard greens, mustard greens, poke greens, turnip greens, dandelion
greens, arugula, baby greens, bok choy, kale, etc. - and sprouts. They
are filled with vitamins and minerals, especially B6 and magnesium,
which are required for your body's many metabolic processes.
Cruciferous
vegetables, such as broccoli, brussels sprouts, and cauliflower,
contain natural compounds that assist with healthy liver function. Raw
nuts and seeds contain essential fatty acids needed for the cellular
membrane around each cell.
The
more we discover about the beneficial compounds in our whole foods, the
clearer it becomes that eating a healthy diet is essential. By doing
so, you stop the progression of disease and reduce the amount of supplementation you need to maintain your health.
Organic Food
The
synthetic pesticides and herbicides used on conventionally grown food,
including genetically modified foods, are carcinogenic. While we don't
yet fully understand the other negative effects that GMO "designer
foods" may have on our bodies, they should be avoided because of the
toxic chemicals used to produce them.
You
can avoid chemicals and get the best-quality nutrients by supporting
certified organic farmers and eating organic fruits, vegetables, meats,
and dairy products. These foods are more expensive, but you and your
health are worth the investment. Quality
outweighs convenience when it comes to healing your body. Be sure to
wash all your fruits and vegetables with a little soap and water or a
natural fruit-and-vegetable wash, which you can find in the health food
store. To find out more, you can check out Anti Candida Diet.
